Tijs Michiel Verwest, globally known as Tiësto, is a Dutch DJ and producer born on January 17, 1969, in Breda, Netherlands. From his beginnings in trance music to his evolution into genres like EDM and dance-pop, Tiësto has been a key figure in the global electronic music scene.
In 1997, Tiësto co-founded the record label Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink, releasing iconic compilations such as Magik and In Search of Sunrise. His debut album In My Memory (2001) included hits like "Lethal Industry" and "Flight 643," establishing his international reputation. His performance at the opening ceremony of the Athens 2004 Olympics was a career milestone, reflected in the album Parade of the Athletes.
Throughout his career, Tiësto has released several notable albums, including Elements of Life (2007), which earned him a Grammy nomination, and Kaleidoscope (2009), marking his transition to a more pop-oriented sound. Recent albums like A Town Called Paradise (2014) and Drive (2023) showcase his ability to remain relevant in the industry.
