Sven Väth
Sven Vath is one of the defining names of Ibiza nightlife and enjoys worldwide recognition. His relationship with Ibiza dates back many years, when at just 16 years old he travelled to the island hitchhiking. Sven fell in love with the island and its magic. Upon returning to Germany, he began to dedicate himself to music. After early years rooted in trance, he evolved towards techno, developing a highly recognizable sound full of melody.
To say Sven Vath is to say Cocoon. Record label, club in Frankfurt and booking agency, Sven turned his Cocoon party into a true symbol of Amnesia and Ibiza, celebrating its 15th season in 2014. In 2015, he was joined by regulars such as Ricardo Villalobos, Dixon, Âme and Adam Beyer.
Papa Sven lives his music to the fullest and transmits this passion to the crowd, who flock in large numbers to enjoy his sets at Amnesia and his legendary after-parties, all performed exclusively on vinyl, in the traditional way.
At the end of each season, he releases the compilation “The Sound of the Season”, bringing together what he considers to be the best tracks of the summer. These compilations can be seen as small gems, as across these 16 releases one can clearly observe the evolution of electronic music.
Awarded ‘Best Techno DJ’ (2002, 2003 and 2009) and with Cocoon named ‘Best Party’ (2008) at the Ibiza DJ Awards, as well as nominated for ‘Best European DJ’ (2007) and ‘Best Techno DJ’ (2014) at the International Dance Music Awards, Sven Vath stands as one of the great figures of techno.
