The Dutch Prodigy Who Became the Voice of a Generation
Martijn Garritsen was just seventeen when "Animals" hit number one across Europe in 2013 and changed his life overnight. Born in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, he had been producing music on his bedroom computer since the age of eight, inspired by watching Tiësto perform at the Athens Olympics in 2004. What started as a teenage obsession turned into one of the most decorated careers in electronic music history.
The hits kept coming — "Tremor" with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, "In The Name Of Love" with Bebe Rexha, "Scared to Be Lonely" with Dua Lipa, "Don't Look Down" with Usher, and more recently "Sleepless Nights" with Armin van Buuren. In 2016 he founded his own label STMPD RCRDS, giving him full creative control and a platform to develop new talent. He has been voted the world's number one DJ by DJ Mag five times — the first time at just nineteen, making him the youngest ever to earn that title — and has accumulated over 12 billion streams on Spotify alone.
