Jamie Jones

The Welsh Selector Who Turned Ibiza Into His Canvas

Born in Caernarfon, Wales, Jamie Jones fell in love with house music before he had the words to explain it. He cut his teeth in the underground warehouse party scene of East London in the mid-2000s, building a reputation the slow, honest way — through relentless digging, eclectic selections and sets that refused to fit neatly into any box. His sound draws from deep house, tech house, disco and funk, always guided by feeling over formula. In 2010 he co-founded Hot Creations alongside Lee Foss, a label that has since become one of the most influential in house music, launching the careers of Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed and Detlef among many others.

In 2011 Resident Advisor's readers voted him the world's number one DJ — a recognition that reflected something real rather than manufactured. His remix of Azari & III's "Hungry for the Power" was later named Defected's Track of the Decade after over 600,000 votes. That same year he launched Paradise in Ibiza, a party that has since become one of the most iconic on the island, moving through DC-10, Amnesia and now [UNVRS]. He has headlined Coachella and Glastonbury, runs the globally syndicated Hot Robot Radio show, and remains one of the most respected figures in electronic music — a rare act who has never chased trends because he has always been ahead of them.
