The Haitian Sun Bringer: Afro House With a Soul

Born in Port-au-Prince and raised between Haiti and New York, Francis Mercier carries the sounds of two worlds everywhere he goes. He studied applied mathematics and economics at Brown University while sneaking DJ sets into every spare hour, eventually walking away from the corporate world to pursue music full time. That leap paid off. His label Deep Root Records has grown into one of the most respected Afro house imprints in the world, and his festival concept Solèy — Haitian Creole for "sun" — has taken him from L'Olympia Paris to the Pyramids of Giza.

His catalogue blends African and Caribbean rhythms with Arabic and Latin textures, and tracks like "Sauti", "Kamili" and "Premier Gaou (Nitefreak Remix)" have collectively surpassed 500 million streams. His sets stand apart for the live element — djembe players, guitarists and choreographed dancers sharing the stage — making every show feel less like a club night and more like a cultural ritual. The BBC Radio 1, SiriusXM and Tomorrowland Radio support followed naturally, as did partnerships with Disney, Netflix and Porsche.
