From Rhodes to Berghain: The Greek Artist Who Builds Worlds Out of Sound
Argyris Theofilis was born on the Greek island of Rhodes and moved to London in 2004 to study music technology, a decision that quietly shaped everything that followed. By twenty he was playing at Panorama Bar inside Berghain — one of the most demanding rooms in the world to earn a booking — and the years since have been a steady accumulation of credibility and reach. His 2021 album The Interior Journey on Renaissance Records is considered a modern dance music masterpiece by many in the scene, and his 2022 Afterlife EP, anchored by the global hit "Tataki", took his audience to a completely different scale.
His New World cinematic album series blends mysticism, science fiction and a visual aesthetic that has drawn comparisons to film scoring. He has collaborated with Anyma ("Voices in My Head"), MEDUZA ("Melodia"), CamelPhat and The Martinez Brothers, and received the Contemporary Art Influencer of the Year award at the WIBA Awards in 2025. His music has featured in campaigns for Ferrari, Bvlgari and Pomellato.
