Layo & Bushwacka! Miami Send Off: Ewan Pearson and Terry Francis
Following a roadblocked 2012 finale with Dubfire, Uner & Agent, Layo & Bushwacka! open their 2013 account on Saturday 23rd February with a special Miami WMC Send Off session. They've invited very special guest Ewan Pearson (Partial Arts / Misericord / Kompakt) to enter the electronic foray as well as a special Saturday night appearance from Wiggle man, Terry Francis, plus Olmeto friend & master blaster, Omri H. The Leading Astray and Sunday West crews once again take command of rooms two and three......
Ewan Pearson has been making records since 1995. His remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Seelenluft, Cortney Tidwell, Junior Boys, Crosstown Rebels, Visionquest and Metronomy are considered classics of the form and his production credits include Delphic’s ‘Acolyte’, Tracey Thorn’s solo albums ‘Out Of The Woods’ and ‘Love And Its Opposite’, The Rapture’s ‘Pieces of the People We Love’ and M83’s ‘Saturdays=Youth’.
A published academic and lecturer at the tender age of 27 (‘Discographies: dance music, culture and the politics of sound’ (Routledge, 1999) with Jeremy Gilbert), Ewan writes a regular column for Germany’s ‘Groove’ magazine and his ‘Enthusiasm’ blogs send readers hot-footed to record stores in their droves. As a DJ Ewan’s no slouch either. A regular at clubs from We Love Space to Panoramabar and a resident at Robert Johnson and The Loft, his sets – like the rest of his career – defy easy categorisation, marrying the independent and the underground with a pop sensibility that’s all his own.
We can't wait to hear what he has in store for us on the 23rd...
Layo & Bushwacka!:
In the six years since their previous artist album, Layo & Bushwacka! have continued to stay at the forefront of the electronic music community via their legendary Shake It! parties, and a consistently impressive stream of releases via their own label Olmeto : notable highlights including Now Is The Time, Summer Gone and two EP's for Richie Hawtin ’s Plus 8 imprint...
Alongside weekly dates worldwide, Terry Francis has been a Saturday resident at one of the Capitals revered clubs, fabric, since its inception. His DJ sets have been a consistent highlight, continually underlining his dual position as scene-stayer and tastemaker. His infamous Wiggle parties (run with Nathan Coles & Eddie Richards) have helped define & document the evolution of house & techno music here in the UK over the past two decades, a testament to his ability to push electronic music in new directions. Over the past couple of years Terry has been making and releasing brand new productions with his partner Klunk forming the Klunk & Zilly label to house them. "I met Klunk about two years ago," he offers by way of an explanation for his duel moniker. "He's my imaginary friend from the pub next door. We started making some music together and it was like we'd known each other in a previous life. But like his cartoon character I couldn't understand what the f**k he was saying, so I just didn't bother and concentrated on the groove." We look forward to a rare Saturday night performance from him outside of his 'home'...
