To get the attention in the fickle clubbing industry, the idea of installing a fish tank might appeal. It could be stocked with some brightly coloured tropical fish, maybe even a whelk or two.

The guys who run Aquarium on Old Street in east London thought 'Sod that'. They converted an old gym complete with a full size swimming pool and encourage their more exhibitionist clients to swim about in designer togs. That, as they say in business, is a unique selling point.

The 500 capacity venue also contains three bars and two dance floors. The most famous night is the long-running 70s-themed Carwash.
