Smirnoff is pleased to announce details of Tunnel Vision, a unique event set to hit a Napoleonic Fort near Chatham in Kent, which has been awarded a £2,000 bursary through the Smirnoff Night Vision® initiative. Harvesting the very best of electronic music, nightlife luminaries including Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, Cream’s head honcho James Barton, club promotions agency Don’t Panic and Mark Ronson’s agent Cris Hearn has voted Tunnel Vision as one of the UK’s most original nights.

The Fort, dating back to the 19th Century and protected by the English Heritage, will play host to a truly unique music event on Saturday 1st August. A day/night event of epic proportions that combines the history of Fort Horsted with cutting edge production, two rooms of quality underground sounds and an outdoor arena showcasing classic 19th Century pastimes.

Visitors will walk over the drawbridge and through the gatehouse into a venue presenting the finest visuals, lightshows and soundsystems whilst the best new DJs play house, techno, dubstep and breaks over two rooms. Upon leaving the Fort and entering the grounds, visitors will be transported back in time with Napoleonic military re-enactments from the 40 Second Highlanders, hog-roasts and an abundance of historic shenanigans.
Tunnel Vision follows a successful series of events in London during April 2009. The promoters behind The Hothouse Revue, People Are Germs, DJ Flicks and 3D Disco Goes 360 were awarded four London bursaries of £10k and, seperately, organised nights across the city featuring, rollerskates, 1930’s decadence, cinematics and 3D visuals in a 360 environment.

Rob da Bank comments "I am very taken with the Smirnoff Night Vision initiative for promoters. I started out as promoter putting on Sunday Best events with a £1.99 entrance fee, and now have my own Bestival and Camp Bestival festivals for up to 35,000 people. I'm delighted to help select some of the country's most unique and original new music promoters."

More Smirnoff Night Vision bursaries will be available in later in 2009. To find out more about the initiative and how to get involved check out http://www.facebook.com/urthenight.

★ GLOBAL UNDERGROUND’S JIM RIVERS HEADLINES TUNNEL VISION!
Headlining the event will be one of the hottest new DJs in the British house music scene; Jim Rivers. Jim has had an incredible 2009 so far; touring the world in support of his Global Underground ‘Nu Breed’ compilation - a series specifically bought back for him having been responsible for launching the careers of Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, Sander Kleinenberg and Lee Burridge several years earlier! Born and bred in Maidstone but having spent the last few years living in Bristol, this will be his first gig in his home county since recently moving back to Kent. This will be his chance to show his home grown audience what he is capable of and why he is being tipped as the next big thing!

Signed to Kitsune, arguably the coolest label on the planet and home to the likes of Hot Chip, Bloc Party, Klaxons and Crystal Castles, David E Sugar is widely regarded as the latest outstanding new live electronic act to come from our shores. The past few months has seen David touring with La Roux having previously supported Calvin Harris and Deadmau5, whilst his Ministry Of Sound radio show (every Thursday at 8pm) goes from strength to strength. 2009 has also witnessed David release 52 tracks over 52 weeks, a world first, on his own imprint Oblio Recordings and make his debut in Kent to headline our brand new Sunshine Terrace. We’re sure you’ll agree he is an excellent addition to our lineup.

Completing the line-up and joining Jim in the tunnel will be more house and techno purveyors in the form of Dodek, Mode:Repeat, Lee Brinx, Alex K, Tom Jobson and Deano Loco. The Other Room will play havoc with the biggest basslines known to man courtesy of Dycey, J-Varn, Small Fry, Damn Right (Delta Connection), Jay Kenzo and Big Trouble with Adam French and Anthony Froom providing the sunset beats alongside David on the Sunshine Terrace!
