Fervor

February 6th sees Fervor return to the fantastic Lightbox in Vauxhall after their sold out venue debut in December with Tractile of the M_NUS label making their London debut. This time round the lineup is even stronger and we're stretching to 2 rooms. Heading up the bill we have Fabrizio Maurizi from M_NUS making only his 3rd London appearance after gigs at Fabric, and Se-One with Contakt. Fabrizio is closely followed by Zoo Project's Saytek performing live on his acclaimed album tour. Support is ably provided from Chris Halliday from the renowned KeToLoCo parties in Leeds, Ibiza and beyond. Joining them on the bill are Chrissy Maranello, Anderson and residents Ninja Cowboys, Lovefish and Grimey.

Fabrizio Maurizi (a.k.a Roger on the Italian scene) is a native of Bologna (Italy), a city that has always paid particular attention to the original Detroit Techno movement, making it the perfect place to grow up in terms of music. After a brief spell as part of the city's militant illegal rave scene, Fabrizio soon graduated to residencies at some of the most important clubs in the country. Fascinated by the Neapolitan techno scene and above all, by the first time he saw Richie Hawtin playing, his sound started moving in a resolutely minimal direction.

Fabrizio started producing his own sounds, switching to music software programs after ten years of studying piano. Completely hooked on very low bassline frequencies, his tracks explore the sometimes dark, sometimes funky side of techno, using completely mad vocal samples to give his music a unique flavour. Fabrizio definitely has DJing in his blood, liking nothing more than to lead the dancefloor out of darkness into light and vice versa, allowing his music to slowly evolve through the interplay of rhythmic analog elements and jumping basslines.

Motivated by dreams of one day being part of the Minus family, he made the decision to only send his music to Richie. Maybe this was too ambitious...but he was convinced it was the right way.

Saytek is a London based house and techno live act/producer whose improvised shows see him creating electronic music on the fly with the aid of his many toys (Roland mc909, Novation Ziosynth, DJM 800, Redsound looper, Kaos Pad 3 + Ableton). His edgy sound is genre defying taking in elements of Detroit techno, minimal-tech, tough house grooves and deeper leftfield beats. As well as arranging everything live Saytek's unique style is also defined by firing samples, resampling and layering 909 and 808 drum patterns into the mix. His performances have taken him to Europe's top venues where his unique take on live dance music has earned him the reputation among many as one of the best underground live acts around. 2008 saw a live album from Saytek 'Control Freak' released in collaboration between Ibiza's Zoo Project and Saytek's Machine Func imprint. The Album presents the sound of Saytek live, having been recorded in one take. A sound that will be familiar to those that have seen his shows.
