Back to Basics is a club brand, a record label and a philosophy. From their beginnings in Leeds in 1991 they conquered the North (of England) and have made successful sorties to London, various muddy festivals where they usually scare the life into VIP areas and of course Ibiza where they are regulars at Space's flagship We Love all Sunday party. They are brutally British post-punk pretenders to the throne - their famous logo featuring a defaced Queen Elizabeth II signals their intent. B2B weathered tragedy early on - founding member Alistair Cooke was killed in a car accident that also took the life of resident dj Ralph Lawson's girlfriend. Cooke's partner Dave Beer survived and went on to create an institution that has brought names such as Danny Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter, Josh Wink, DJ Sneak and other US luminaries to the UK. Homegrown talent booked includes Danny Rampling, Tim Sheridan, Basement Jaxx, Ashley Beedle, Justin Robertson, Slam and hundreds of other quality house and techno artists.
