Ibiza

Memories of Ibiza are often dream-like, and the white Mediterranean isle appears often in the nocturnal ramblings of its visitors.
The millions who come annually are bewitched by any combination of sun, nature, history embodied in the form of the castle of D'Alt Vila (a UNESCO world heritage site) and of course a social scene like no other.
Typically things start slowly. Shops are shut and many streets deserted during the afternoon siesta. Beach bars in the home of chill play soothing sounds in the daylight hours till the sun sets. Sensible folks take a leisurely dinner to get their strength up, the bars get going from 11pm till late, then most of the clubs from midnight on.
Then of course there are afterparties and open air gigs, all hours, public and private.
Musically, the entertainment is far better now than five years ago. The impact of the world's biggest venues remains but variety is king in modern Ibiza. House, techno and trance are still strong but now partygoers can mix and match hip hop, indie, pop, rock and more on a night or day out.
The juxtaposition of seemingly disparate elements is the true definition of Balearic. People of all ages from everywhere, dancing with open minds. It sounds cheesy but it's true.
