The Westbury Bar

The London suburb of Kilburn has never really screamed party central. In fact, the drive-through town located in between Queens Park and Maida Vale hardly offers much beyond average watering holes. So it comes as a welcome surprise to introduce The Westbury, a pub-cum-bar offering locals and dedicated music heads an unlikely alternative.

For a venue that has undergone refurbishment, The Westbury does a grand job of maintaining a vintage-style decor that mashes manor house charm and trashy chic into one. Green velvet printed wallpaper, maroon leather couches, antique mirrors and old paintings of creepy looking men are all upstaged by large, look-at-me chandeliers. Even the over sized American-style pool table, which manages to lure a somewhat younger crowd, is decorated with fancy overhead lighting. Another pointer worth mentioning is The Priory - a charming separate room with a private bar ideal for parties. The free WiFi makes lazy Sunday afternoons all the better as you can trawl through emails over a large glass of vino.
