Duke's

One of the more remarkable things about London is how an Italian restaurant and associated bar in the heart of the City can be turned into a heaving club with djs, soul and maybe even a spot of "psychedelic madness".

Duke's Bar on Houndsditch is just such a place. The music varies according to the promoter on the night, with everybody from techno heads to trancemeisters to rare groove aficionados making use of the space. Despite only having a capacity of a couple of hundred there's room for a decent system and three dance floors, thus giving broadminded punters the variety required in these hectic modern times.

Whatever the night the dress code is typically relaxed and the security friendly and fair. Dukes featured on the BBC's site as one of the best venues in Aldgate in their Your Manor series.

Not to be confused with Duke's Bar on St James's Place, with its 15 quid martinis, Dukes Bar in gay old Old Compton St, Dukes Head in Putney, Duke of York at Kings Cross station, or the Duke of Cambridge in Islington, ok?

Please note you must be over 18 to attend events at Duke's Bar.
