Siren Retreat
At Egg, United Kingdom on 27 Mar 2010 from 22:00
Lineup
Lee Van Dowski, Luciano Esse, Irtelli & Gus, Severn
Brand new underground party Mantis Music launches at Egg, London on Saturday March 27th with Cadenza’s Swiss “dark prince of uplifting electronic music “DJ/Producer Lee Van Dowski making his Egg debut. Championing new names from the world of electronic dance, techno and minima sounds, Mantis Music also welcomes Luciano Esse alongside residents the capital’s homegrown, Irtelli & Gus.
"Technically, I like to surprise myself," says Lee Van Dowski. "I like to do a long, smooth mix, and then a radical one… It's important for me to try telling a story, so of course your technique is another way of doing that, along with the music itself. With time and with age, maybe, the tempo really decreased, I think I play a bit deeper now than five or six years ago. But I still love a good, bouncy track if it's not too aggressive, and if the energy serves the groove instead of breaking it." Slowing down also means stretching out. "I like to play long sets," he continues, "when you don't have to rush, and you can really forget yourself and build something different." From the supple grooves of deep house and classic minimal techno to cutting edge electronica.
London-based since 2001, Italian DJ Luciano Esse has enjoyed success as one of the resident DJs of the "Vitalik Crew" at We Love Sundays at Space in Ibiza as well as being the first italian DJ to have the honour of playing at Fabric. He also holds down monthly residencies at "Groove" in Milan, and in the south of Italy with the "Musica e Parole" crew in clubs such as Clorophilla, Cromie and Guendalina.
Residents are Irtelli & Gus, who have played at some of the coolest warehouse underground minimal/techno parties around including Unit 7, Zigfid, Egg and 54 to name a few. Their biggest gig to date is Sensation White for Houseworx inside the Riga Arena in Latvia where they played to 10,000 people. Two years ago they started working in the studio and their first release reached 42 in the Beatport chart. Last year they started to introduce LIVE sessions to their club sets with Irtelli on live percussion and Gus pushing the boundaries with live sounds and fx on the buttons.
