One of the steady success stories from the Island of Ibiza over the last number of years, has been the emerging reputation of Ibiza Rocks on the European Concert Circuit. The brainchild of one half of the iconic Manumission team, Andy and Dawn McKay, Ibiza Rocks was founded in 2008, at the old Club Paraiso Hotel in San Antonio. As it now prepares to open its doors for its fifth summer season with the presence of critically acclaimed Ed Sheeran on its main stage, Ibiza Rocks has finally come of age.
The Team at Ibiza Rocks, which include Radio 1’s Zane Lowe as its creative director, have always had their thumb on the musical pulse of their market, the young, Indie Rock festival crowd of the British Isles. In recent years, Ibiza Rocks has headlined acts such as The Prodigy, Florence and The Machine, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Biffy Clyro, Bombay Bicycle Club and Dizzie Rascal along with a welcome burst of nostalgia, via ska legends The Specials and Madness. As Ibiza Rocks grows in stature, more bands and artists are looking at the venue as a serious player and therefore considering it on their tour circuit. Ibiza Rocks has ensured that Live Rock music has a prominent profile on the Island of Ibiza and it deserves a lot of credit for this fact.
This year, heavyweight acts like New Order, Kasabian, Ed Sheeran, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party
and Two Door Cinema Club
are lined up to thrill the young up for it crowd at the San Antonio venue. With an excellent value ticket price of €35 which includes complimentary access into the Ibiza Rocks after party at nearby Es Paradis, the Ibiza Rocks experience is one for any Ibiza Holiday must do shortlist. The Party kicks off at 5pm each Wednesday with resident DJ’s warming up the crowd before the main act appears on stage at 9pm. The atmosphere in the courtyard of Ibiza Rocks Hotel, is one of buzzing anticipation, as a young crowd on Holiday in Ibiza soak up the early evening Mediterranean sunshine.
